A phone call often starts the job. Customer operations teams still have to finish it.
A patient asks for an appointment, then the clinic waits for a document. A delivery fails, so the team needs a new address and another attempt.
A voice bot can collect the missing detail and end the call. The team still needs to update its system, schedule the next step, and check the result.
Voice AI handles an interaction. A long-horizon agent owns the work that follows.
- Day 1System eventDelivery fails
Journey reads the failure reason and starts the recovery SOP.
- Day 1WhatsAppAsk for the missing detail
The customer does not reply. Journey keeps the case open.
- Day 2VoiceSwitch channel
The customer gives a corrected address on a call.
- Day 2TMS / CRMWrite the change
Journey updates the business system and schedules another attempt.
- Day 5System + chatVerify completion
Journey sees the delivery status, confirms it with the customer, and closes the case.
The work continues after the call
Voice AI works well for jobs that finish during a call, such as answering a question or booking an available slot.
Long-running work depends on events that arrive later. A customer may reply tomorrow. A document may land next week. The agent has to wait, resume from the same state, and pick the right channel for the next step.
With Osvi Journey, you define the outcome and give the agent your SOP, documents, and system access. Journey runs the next action, records what happened, and keeps going until it can verify completion.
Measure the finished job
Containment tells you that the bot handled a conversation without a person. It does not tell you whether the patient attended the appointment or the package reached the customer.
| Question | Voice bot | Long-horizon agent |
|---|---|---|
| Unit of work | A call or chat | An outcome |
| When does it stop? | When the conversation ends | When completion is verified |
| What does it remember? | The current transcript | Actions, promises, and system state |
| Success metric | Containment and handle time | Completion rate and cost per completed outcome |
Track completion rate and cost per completed outcome. Call containment cannot show whether the job got done.
Running work across days
- Durable state. Journey keeps one record of the actions taken, promises made, and current system state.
- Retries and timing. The agent waits when a reply may still arrive. It follows up on schedule and stops after completion.
- System actions. The agent updates the CRM or reschedules the delivery. A person gets the full case record when a decision needs judgment.
- Journey-level evaluation. A transcript score cannot tell you whether the appointment happened. Test the action sequence and verify the result in the business system.
Voice is one part of the journey
Journey can use a voice agent to collect an address, WhatsApp to receive a document, and a person to make a judgment call. Each participant works from the same case state.
Journey chooses the next participant and carries the context forward. The team gets one case with one completion state.
